Girls Night Out Altoona is a vibrant, heartfelt annual event and nonprofit initiative dedicated to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research, education, and patient support. It was founded in memory of Taunia Oechslin, a spirited young woman who passed away from breast cancer at age 39. Her legacy lives on through this powerful community gathering.

 

Core Mission

The Event

  • Held every October at the Blair County Convention Center

  • Known for its “Little Black Dress” theme and festive atmosphere

  • Draws over 1,000 attendees, all united in the fight against breast cancer

  • Over $1.7 million raised since its founding in 2008

  • Funds benefit organizations like Joyce Murtha Breast Cancer Center, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, UPMC Altoona Foundation, and the Bob Perks Fund
